Terra Vitalis LLC specializes in urban forestry project management, with a strong focus on environmental equity and climate resilience. We manage complex, multi-partner tree and landscape projects from early planning through implementation, stewardship, and reporting—ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with community needs.
Serving as project manager for many of OUR Community Forestry's initiatives, Terra Vitalis has supported projects across Southern Oregon that prioritize underserved and frontline communities, wildfire recovery, workforce development, and long-term urban canopy health. Our role often includes coordinating partners, managing logistics and equipment, supporting grant-funded work, and translating community-driven goals into on-the-ground outcomes.

Our Passion for Trees
At Terra Vitalis, our team of professional arborists and nursery experts harbors a deep love for trees. We guide our clients through the process of selecting premium-quality trees directly from our local nursery comrades. Our comprehensive services include delivery, strategic placement, planting, irrigation, mulching, and fertilization to ensure the long-term health and beauty of each tree.
Beyond planting, we excel in preserving the vitality and safety of existing trees. As skilled climbing arborists, we specialize in advanced pruning techniques and risk management strategies—including bracing, cabling, air-excavation, and targeted health remediation—to enhance the structural integrity and longevity of trees.
We are committed to conservation and typically do not remove trees unless they are deceased and integral to a broader planting initiative. Our goal is to nurture every tree to its fullest potential, making your landscape both safe and spectacular.

How Terra Vitalis Supports OUR Community Forestry
- Terra Vitalis provides access to equipment, vehicles, tools, and professional capacity that the nonprofit would otherwise be unable to afford.
- All equipment is made available to OUR Community Forestry at below-market rates under formal agreements.
- Work performed under nonprofit grants is completed without Terra Vitalis branding and in service of OUR Community Forestry’s mission.
- Any profit generated by Terra Vitalis is fully committed to reinvestment in OUR Community Forestry and its programs.
About Ownership & Compensation
Terra Vitalis LLC is owned by Mike Oxendine, who also serves as the Founder and Executive Director of OUR Community Forestry.
Mike takes a minimal, part-time salary from Terra Vitalis and is a part-time paid Director of OUR Community Forestry, primarily when working on reimbursable, grant-funded projects. Prior to this, he volunteered full-time for more than two years to establish the organization.
Mike continues to volunteer between 10 and 20 hours per week across both organizations.
Clear conflict-of-interest policies, separate finances, and formal agreements are in place to ensure transparency, accountability, and mission alignment between the two organizations.
This social enterprise model allows OUR Community Forestry to focus its limited nonprofit resources on community impact—trees planted, youth trained, neighborhoods cooled—while ensuring professional standards, financial responsibility, and long-term sustainability.
We believe transparency is essential to trust, and we are committed to operating both organizations with integrity, clarity, and accountability in service of the communities we work alongside.
